We have several hand painted, student artist signed “postcards” done during and just after WWI. The Committee of American Students of the School of Fine Arts was begun to help drafted American students during & after WWI. Each card is marked on the back, “The Comite’ des ETUDIANTS AMERICANS de l’ECOLE def BEAUX ARTS, Paris” in order to “GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS POST CARD”. Several of the cards are stamped, “NOT TO BE SOLD IN AMERICA” because these postcards are not like those in the United States. Our source for these cards inherited them from a grandfather who served early in France & then stayed on to study art. These were sold by the students probably for a few cents, anything to help them survive in a post-war France while they were in school. Each one appears to be signed by the artist, but some cards’ dark colors obscure that information. We will initially sell these grouped by artist. The numbers on the back meant something to the school & artist, but that’s just a guess. All four cards are dated 1918 & painted horizontally: 1.) “Rambercourt - aux - Puxo” – a cathedral which appears to be intact, as there are no large piles of rubble around the church; the foreground shows a doorway which may be all that’s left of a small building there; the pale gray sky is accented with uplifting arched ink lines; a crucifix or cross remains outside the church; bright green is seen in 2 areas where shrubs have flourished; the sun’s light on the cathedral’s façade is pale yellow & orange; 2.) “Serinaise – les – Bains” – here we see a walkway or corridor perhaps within a cathedral or just next to it; fairly massive stone columns fill the scene, marching diagonally down the way; lots of black ink is used here, in vertical & horizontal shading which provides depth in the picture; the capitals of the columns are a simple modified form of Corinthian design; the only color used here is gray, with many different types of black ink marks; light appears to be coming in from the upper left corner, as several columns appear to be white when hit by the light; 3.) “LeCereay” – this horizontal painting shows a village or small town little touched by bombing; the church’s steeple & roof appear to be intact, as well as several large buildings outside it; the foreground has many green trees as outlined & detailed with black ink; a few of the roofs are brown, but water colors in pale yellow, orange, & pink as well as grayish blue fill the sky; one corner is filled in with black, but I don’t know why; 4.) “Sernier” – another horizontal painting, but this one shows a long view of the previous scene; a stream or small river starts in the foreground & continues to or through the town; some tall trees as seen so often in the French countryside fill the foreground on the right of the stream; several small & one large buildings are sketched in ink & then accented with water colors which include pink, orange-brown, & yellow; some of these colors continue into the sky which also has some large white clouds, pale blue or grey. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only, with no handling fees. PLEASE SCROLL down to the bottom of the page to see all available USPS charges. PLEASE WAIT FOR YOUR INVOICE FROM US, BECAUSE SOMETIMES E-BAY QUOTES A MORE EXPENSIVE QUOTE THAN IS REQUIRED. YOUR PURCHASE WILL BE SENT (WITHIN THE U.S.) WITH DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, paid for by us - $.80 on standard delivery, or $.70 on Priority Mail delivery; we assume that fee to ensure that your package is tracked until it arrives. Because e-Bay has told us we no longer may charge for insurance on any item, we again will assume that cost for breakable items over $30.00. We are always happy to COMBINE SHIPPING on multiple items/purchases. At auction’s end, we will send each winner an invoice through eBay. High bidder pays actual postage cost. Due to the change in eBay’s policy we now only accept PayPal unless the buyer asks us ahead of time for other pay methods. Illinois residents must pay 8% sales tax or furnish a current resale number. We do ship internationally. For international transactions we accept: PayPal. WE DO NOT ACCEPT FOREIGN CURRENCY! We appreciate your interest and bidding very much as well as your courtesy. Thank you.~ ~ ~

Two more lovely examples these students made. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only, with no handling fees. PLEASE SCROLL down to the bottom of the page to see all available USPS charges.

Both cards are dated “1918”: 1.) “Halles d’Tres” – media used appear to be black ink & water colors; may be a rear view of a bombed out cathedral whose two steeples are in the background; arched windows suggest a Romanesque rather than a gothic influenced design; the church & its rubble are painted only grey or tan with ink details; the sky has tints of yellow, orange, & pink with fewer horizontal ink marks suggested “clouds” perhaps; vertically painted; 2.) “Aurras” – larger area depicted; foreground has lots of black ink used to suggest rubble, broken walls, a path of destruction; the background shows tall medieval buildings or guild halls, even perhaps a tall church tower; the gray sky is accented with black ink horizontal lines; a tiny patch of orange or yellow water colors makes the front or sides facing the sun glow; a horizontal painting. Two more lovely examples these students made. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only, with no handling fees. PLEASE SCROLL down to the bottom of the page to see all available USPS charges. 1940’S SET OF SERIGRAPH ZODIAC POSTCARDS BY DUBOSCLARD Description: This set of 12 Zodiac postcards crafted by Paul Dubosclard of Topanga, California is Set #111. These cards were produced using the silk screen process and, as such, they are miniature pieces of art. These sets were distributed by the Post Card Collectors Club of America, advertised as a “limited edition of 2,000 sets”. Seller does not know how many complete sets were produced and assembled. This set #111 is an early set that seller had difficulty in finding over twenty years ago. The 12-card set was marketed in a wrap-around grey paper cover entitled, “Constellations of the Zodiac” – see Photo #1. Included in the set of 12 Zodiac cards was a fold out, light cardstock, 8 panel “Guide to the Constellations of the Zodiac”, with set #111 at the bottom of the cover panel of the Guide – see Photo #2. The 8 panels include the cover panel, 5 panels “How to Use the Cards” (including 4 panels describing each of the 12 signs) and 2 panels entitled “The Zodiac . . . Its Origin and its Importance”. Photo #2 shows the cover panel in the middle; on the right, the first of 5 panels entitled, “How to Use the Cards”, and on the left, the second of two panels entitled, “The Zodiac . . . Its Origin and its Importance”. All 12 in this (Set #111) cards have the appropriate Zodiac sign imprinted in red-orange. (Zodiac cards which do not have the imprint of the Zodiac sign in red-orange have not been through the entire silk screen process as this was the last screening on these cards). Seller believes these “Hand Made Original Serigraph” cards are difficult to find in a complete, singled-numbered set as issued. This set comes in four, 4-pocket, clear plastic page holders and will be shipped in a rigid mailing envelope. 8 Photos Photo #1: Cover “Constellations of the Zodiac” Photo #2: “Guide to Constellations of the Zodiac – Supplement to a series of limited edition of serigraph post cards by Paul Dubosclard.
