It appears that, sometime in the late 1930s, several friends were sitting in Schilo's (a venerable bar and deli that's still in business and serves excellent sandwiches) on Commerce Street in San Antonio... but one of the group was missing. So, they each wrote a brief message on the back of a Pearl Beer coaster. Later, one of them put an address and stamp on the front of the coaster, dropped it in a mailbox... and Lo and Behold, the USPO delivered it to the recipient (Miss Alpha Steagall) in Temple, TX (about halfway between SA and Dallas)!!! The coaster is 4 and 3/16" in diameter and 1/16" thick, and seems to have been pressed from a mixture of glue, cardboard and sawdust; at any event, it's inflexible. This unusual artifact is in very good condition and should be of interest to postcard and breweriana collectors alike. PayPal only, please; add $3.00 for insured USA shipping, or $4.00 (first class, no insurance) anywhere else. Thanks for looking, and please see my other listings for more postcards.
