Scarce to find early 1924 horse racing postcard showing a large crowd and horses coming down the track at Laurel, Maryland. This 1907 postmarked black and white printed postcard shows the two piers at Betterton with steamboats docked at each. As you can see, it is a panoramic card that folds out to three panels. Betterton is on the Chesapeake Bay in Kent County on Maryland's Eastern Shore. There is a bit of wear. Please see the photographs, which can be enlarged and are part of the description. This real photo postcard is written on but unused postally. It is titled "W.M. RR DEPOT". The photographer is unidentified but it is numbered 669. The side of the building has a sign that reads "WESTERNPORT". The back is hand dated "Feb. 4, 1911". Nice early view of people by the train station with a cargo cart and surrounding buildings. We think this is in Maryland but please decide for yourself. Card measures 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". Corners are bumped. Good clarity. The words "danji" do not appear on the actual image. They are only on our scans to deter image theft. Scans are enlarged to show detail.
