They were a charter member of the Pacific Coast League in 1903, known as the Portland Browns. They were renamed the Portland Giants, and finally changed their name to the Portland Beavers in 1906 after a newspaper contest.This team was managed by part owner and former major league player Walter McCredie (back row, far right).Second scan shows reverse of postcard.
