2 Rosenberg TX RPPC Real Photo Postcard showing businesses around the turn of the century. What I think is the earlier one has a real estate sign with the date 1906. It's behind a pole, so I can't read the whole sign, but it gives the seller's name "___yer & Pleak" "Fort Bend Co." "Land" ___to $15.00 Acre" "1906". Postcard says the scene is West of Union Depot, Rosenberg, TX. Some of the businesses pictured are a Livery Feed & Sale Stable, later pictured as a Pool & Bowling Alley. Cumings Drugs is mentioned, there is a shop which in the later PC is named F. Matula & Co. Real Estate Office. Next is the Silver King Saloon, which changed hands from Tom Coleman to H.F. Pitstick. Then there is a Barber Shop with the same owner in both PCs - W.T. Speight. To the right of it there are several advertisements painted on rooftops I believe, namely Mail Pouch Tobacco, and one that reads "Jesse James". Also shown to the far right is the Palace Restaurant/Board and Rooms/Lunches and Short Orders. These postcards give a rare, unique look at the town and the many changes it went through in what I believe is a period of 2-3 yrs during the horse and buggy days. Both PCs are in excellent condition, there are some smudges and light soiling to the fronts, and corner impressions from the photo album they were in which show in the photos, especially the photo of the backs. Fabulous RPPC postcard c1915, name on back of EB Bass, pharmacist who went to Galveston Pharmacy School and then lived and worked in Hartley, Texas. Wonderful Dr. Pepper 5 cts drink banner. Never seen one like that. Looks like soda/shop on one side with bar stools, flavors on the right side of bar, straws, looks like syrup containers.
