Thanks for taking the time to view my auctions. I will be listing a number of vintage postcards from the 1905-1910 era. Most are from the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. If you are bidding on a number of cards ending on different days just wait until you are done bidding on all that you are interested in and I will send you an invoice with combined shipping so as to save in the shipping for you. All cards will be posted in rigid envelopes with the cards inside hard plastic envelopes. Anyone local is more than welcome to pick the cards up. Listed in this auction is a postcard advertising New Departure Coaster Brakes from a bicycle shop in Middletown, Virginia. I have tried to make all my post cards photos large and clear enough so that you can see the condition, please feel free to email any questions you may have.

Up for bid is an unused postcard by W. E. Burgess of "Concrete Bridge at 'Belmead' Street, Emma Industrial and Agricultural College, Rock Castle, VA".. I am not an expert on postcards but would say the card is in good shape. It has yellowing from age and the corners are rounded. I will be posting other postcards by Burgess as well. Please ask questions well in advance of auction end to ensure a timely reply. Thank you and happy bidding. Willie E Burgess began his career in photography in the late 1800's in Scottsville, a little town on the James River in central Virginia. Until his death in 1935 he chronicled the people and landscape of Scottsville and the surrounding region, leaving behind over 450,000 photographic postcard images, not to mention family photographs which today are treasured keepsakes in many households throughout Virginia. The enormous volume of 3 x 5 postcards, many of them hand colored, have found their way into museums and private collections across the country. http://people.virginia.edu/~edb9d/1stfloor/westwing/index.htm
